Wheel Loader

966G Wheel Loader with D9.

The IDF operates different types of Caterpillar machines. Among these are the modified D9/D10 Dozers and different types of Wheel Loaders. There are three types: the 950E/F, 966E/F and the 966G. This vehicles were built during the 1980s (production of the E-version started in 1981), except the 966G which was built during the 1990s.

The Caterpillar Wheel Loaders in IDF service are used fulfill a wide variety of Engineer Force tasks. Apart from earthmoving, loading duties and such familar stuff, they are also in use to destroy terrorist houses, build and clear road-blockades and other tasks related to anti-terrorist operations of the IDF.

The Wheel Loaders were modified by Israel, a wirescreen-cover was added to the cab to incraese protection for the operator. It also seems possible that an armoured cab is used.
