CARDOM

The CARDOM 120mm autonomous self propelled recoiling mortar, mounted on tracked or wheeled vehicles (M113 Family - Tracked Armoured Mortar), offers significant advantages in fast deployment, accuracy, area coverage, tactical mobility, flexibility and survivability.
It achieves ranges of up to 7,200m.

The CARDOM contains state of the art navigation & command control and communication devices, offering the infantry and mortar commander unique enhanced operational capabilities of quick response time and automatic laying features.

The CARDOM Mortar system, is equipped with a recoil system that attenuates the firing loads and enables mounting the 120mm mortar on tracked or wheeled vehicles. Due to the low firing loads, the traverse and firing throughout the 360º arc is possible. This capability allows shifting the fire to targets of opportunity, without moving the platform, ideal for a mobile and fluid battlefield.
Accurate orientation of the barrel, ensures the use of the mortar laying system under the control of a dynamic reference unit. The automatic laying system ensures an accuracy of 1 artillery mil and rapid target engagement.

The firing control system enables first round for effect, to achieve enemy surprise and enhanced lethality. The system is equipped to fire point-guided ammunition and improved conventional munition (ICM), which enhances the system lethality against selected targets as well as against traditional targets. The CARDOM carries onboard ready to use 30-60 bombs, according to the vehicle design.
